Summer's closer than you think: Get fit with Terrell Fit

Meet Atlanta-based personal trainer and nutritionist Terrell Fit. Terrell offers one-on-one training sessions, group sessions, and custom online programs to help people reach their fitness goals. After his personal training business took off, he started a new venture with cooking and meal prepping. His Fit Package Meals are customizable to fit individuals’ needs to meet their goals, whether it’s in weight loss, building muscle, or living a healthier lifestyle. We had the chance to speak with Terrell on how he got his business started, the challenges that come with being an entrepreneur, his new cooking show Fit Kitchen, and what we can expect from him next.

Thanks for sharing your story with us. Let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.

I became a personal trainer at the age of 22. I've always had a love for fitness and a passion for helping people. Becoming a trainer allowed me to do both and earn a living at the same time. As a trainer, nutrition and eating properly are topics of almost every conversation, so it's only natural that I became more educated, which eventually led to me learning how to cook. This skill set landed me a long list of new clients, many with very interesting lives. So this is my way of highlighting food, fitness, and interesting people.

Has it been a relatively smooth road? If not, what were some of the struggles you’ve faced along the way? And how did you stay motivated?

Definitely not. This road has had many bumps and curves. Becoming an entrepreneur sounds like so much fun until you realize how much work goes into it. Imagine going into Walmart and there's only one person working in the entire store — it feels something like that. Having to run every part of a business can be difficult, but it's a challenge that I've learned how to deal with over time. The hardest part about facing challenges in your business is trying to stay motivated. Sometimes it's difficult, but that's why it's important to understand your "why” — your reason for doing what you do. Your "why" is what will keep you pushing and preserving and it’s what’s kept me going.

Please tell us more about your work and your business.

I've been a personal trainer for over 10 years and a nutrition specialist for five years. I've helped so many people reach their fitness goals over the past few years. Though it seems like my job is to help people get in shape  — and in some ways, it is — I like to think that the bigger part of my job is helping to build confidence, self-esteem, better habits, and an overall healthier lifestyle.

What are you currently focused on? Most proud of so far?

My biggest focus right now is growth, expansion, and networking.  I want to share my life, my knowledge, and my energy with a wider range of people. I'm proud of the progress I've made towards that goal even though there is so much more to complete.

Is there anyone, from the past or present, you wish you could work with? Or have you already worked with that person?

I'm not sure if there's "one person" who I wish I could work with. I'm focused on meeting interesting people; interesting people who are passionate about life and passionate about their talents.

What can we expect from you next?
