The You42 you once knew is getting a major upgrade, and not just to the look and layout of the site. Because You42 is and always will be built by creators for creators, we’re adding new features for easier content management, better navigation tools, improved discoverability and more. Keep reading to learn about what’s new and what’s coming soon.

What’s changing on You42?

The new You42 is getting a complete makeover. When you land on the homepage, you’ll notice the platform has a new look, with a more user-friendly interface and experience. The new and improved menus make it easy to find exactly what you’re looking for — whether it’s an album, your favorite podcast or a web series. And a streamlined search bar for Channels makes it easier than ever to discover all the new content on the platform. If you were a part of Earbits before, you’ll still be able to stream music from its expansive collection on the new platform.

The Content Manager also got a major upgrade. Not only are there less steps for uploading your content, but you can also upload multiple files at once, save files in your drafts, unpublish content that you no longer want public, select a genre for each file you upload and differentiate which audio files you want classified as ‘music’ and which are actually ‘podcasts’.

Creating your own channels

Channels and Series are the newest way to organize content on You42. Anyone can create their own Channel after signing up to become a Verified Content Creator. Once you are a Content Creator, you can start uploading video and audio files, such as podcasts, music, web series and more. For a complete list of accepted file types, check out our Creator Guide on Uploading Your Content.

Any content you upload to You42 must exist under a Channel. If, for example, you have a sports podcast, but want to upload a new podcast on entertainment, you are free to create a new Channel for your latest podcast. Content Creators can also create a Series within a Channel to help organize content under a single Channel and group things together for easier discoverability. You can learn more about creating and organizing your Channels, here.

Coming soon: You42 Networks

One of the biggest things coming to the new You42 is Networks. Networks are organized around a brand or personality, connecting established brands with creators to help you create a name for yourself, boost views and listeners, increase discoverability and monetize your content by leveraging the name recognition of that Network’s brand or personality. Head over to our FAQ Page for more information, and keep checking the blog to find out how you can become part of You42 Networks.

Whether you are looking to boost your name, increase views on your videos, gain more listeners on your podcast, promote new music or have an independent, one-stop-shop for all of the content you create — regardless of genre and format — the new You42 has something for all creators.
